The Midsummer Dream School is a training and research environment aimed at students, professional practitioners and critics interested in thinking and working artistically through performative devices and methodological reflections.

 

The Midsummer Dream School 2011 will concentrate on the relationship between performance space and spectator participation. The participants will have the opportunity to do practical and theoretical work in different types of space and venue as a framework for sound, images, personal actions and texts, analyzing the 'interference' of theatre on the spectator.

 

In 2011 the collaborators will be: Dramaturg MIRIAM FRANDSEN (Department for Further Education at the National Theatre School in Copenhagen, Denmark), theatre professors and critics KNUT OVE ARNTZEN (Department of Theatre Science, University of Bergen, Norway) and NIKOLAI PESOCHINSKY (Theatre Academy, St. Petersburg, Russia) as well as the actors/dancers ROBERTA CARRERI, JAN FERSLEV, KAI BREDHOLT and AUGUSTO OMOLÚ together with director EUGINO BARBA (Odin Teatret, Holstebro, Denmark).

 

The Midsummer Dream School will be in two parts.The first part will take place from 7 to 14 August 2011 at the Department of Dramaturgy at Aarhus University; the second part from 14 to 20 August at Odin Teatret in Holstebro.

Participants of The Midsummer Dream School can attend the Odin Week Festival (Holstebro 22 - 31 August 2011) with a 10 % reduction in the participation fee.

A nine-day intensive introduction to Odin Teatret's training and working methods as well as barters, local and international activities, organisation and performances

The ODIN WEEK FESTIVAL is an international seminar-festival,  held once a year at Odin Teatret in Holstebro for people wishing to acquire a better knowledge of its activities. The programme includes training, attending rehearsals, all Odin Teatret's performances and work demonstrations currently on repertoire, films, meetings with Eugenio Barba, lectures and discussions. The programme is conducted in English.

 

Applications must be received before 22 April 2011.
