歡喜扮戲團

秀清是我們「歡喜扮戲團」裏最年輕的一位─只有六十四歲。剛來的時候，常有女兒輪流陪扮她來上課，接她下課，然後陪她去找一家有特色的餐廳吃午餐，她女兒有點兒像帶媽媽上幼稚園般的呵護著她，讓我們大家羨慕不已。

在排練《臺灣告白(四)：如果你叫我》的時候，因為大部分的老人演員都是外省人，所以各自都說著帶有獨特口音的「國語」。

每一個新到劇團的工作人員都會偷偷的問〝那個留白鬍子的老先生是不是小流氓啊？〞

Ms. Ya-Ling Peng founded UHAN SHII, which means happy, delight, and cheer in Chinese , in March 1995 . UHAN SHII is a performance group especially for actors older than 60. The theater productions such as “Echoes of Taiwan” series, are based on the oral histories of its aging members.Elders relate emotional life experiences to younger generations to help them better understand Taiwan’s tumultuous recent history,which they are not old enough to remember. UHAN SHII’s audience is usually a mixture of 60% young students, 20% adults, and 20% elders.

蔡益山從一九九五年開始與我們參加「臺灣告白歲月流轉50年」的全省巡迴演出。一九九五年年底，劇團歲末聚餐，包下一間有榻榻米的房間，大家可以恣意的喧鬧。蔡益山說他不能吃東西，一個人獨自坐到一角，我想他大概是胃炎之類的吧！也沒特別在意，我請他過來喝喝茶，他說他連水也不可以喝，我想他真會自我節制。過完年後我打電話去問候他並預約巡迴演出日期，他告訴我他事實上是得了膀胱癌，醫生說少則兩個月多則半年的時間而已。我驚嚇得大叫並當下立刻決定：「蔡益山，你不可以死，你是我的男主角，我下一部戲以你的故事為主角。」「我現在正在做化療，身體的情況很不穩定，平時好好的，有時候走兩步便又大出血了。」，「不行，你不可以這樣就走，這樣吧！現在開始做功課，我問問題，你把你的故事告訴我，我記錄下來，我沒問到，你記得的部份自己寫下來，每天都要寫，要打電話給我報告。」。

The Uhan Shii Theater Group is more than a collection of old folks acting out bittersweet life experiences from Taiwan’s past. It is, among other things, the culmination of a soul-searching journey for a Taiwan-born theater artist.
